Septa Operators UTU Local 1594 Members save life of a Passenger.

On Thursday Morning December 13, 2007 at approximately 7:05am a Septa route
112 bus was departing the west terminal at 69th street when the operator of the bus
noticed a passenger appeared to be ill, he immediately stopped the bus and seeked
help. At that time another operator (Melissa Regis) was on the platform heard the
request of the operator and observed the passenger through the window and she
boarded the vehicle to see if her assistance was needed, as she boarded the
vehicle she noticed the passenger was no longer breathing and did not have a
pulse, she immediately put the passenger on the floor of the vehicle and started
administering CPR. During that time a second operator (Vincent Grasso) boarded
the vehicle and began to assist the first operator they both took turns administering
CPR until they successfully regained a pulse from the passenger. The EMT arrived
shortly after and transported the passenger to the hospital. This passenger is still
alive due to the quick thinking and unselfish acts of Two (2) operators Melissa Regis
and Vincent Grasso because of these operators this passenger’s family can enjoy a
happy holiday season instead of mourning the lost of a loved one.
